An Interview With Jon From Gorilla Perfumes Islington

Since opening on the ninetieth of July 2014, Gorilla Perfumes has grown and become a favourite shop among many. Situated in a quaint little street of Camden Passage, Islington, the Gorilla Perfumes store is the only store dedicated solely to Lush perfumes. This whimsical place already holds such happiness for me. I love a chance to step out of the bustle and immerse myself in nothing but my love of perfume. These perfumes hold such meaning to me and have helped me a lot through the last year, so I was so delighted when Jon, the manager of the store, agreed to let me interview him and find out all I could.

Chocolate And Perfume Pairing With Gorilla Perfume!

One of my favourite stores ever, has paired up with Edingburge chocolatiers Edward and Irwin, and have been hosting a stall at this years Islington Chocolate Festival. Six chocolates have been created exclusively for Gorilla Perfumes and are being used in the multi-sensory experience of chocolate and perfume pairing. These have been dreamed up using such ingredients to either taste like or complement six of the Gorilla Perfumes fragrances.

Gorilla Perfumes Scented Cinema - Lush Review

Me and my Husband have just come back from a fantastic weekend in London, another mini holiday I may have hijacked for Lush. We had a whole day of beautiful scented activities, that pleased all of our senses. We started our day by visiting the Gorilla Perfumes store at The chocolate festival (which I will be posting another blog about) as well as getting to interview the gorgeous Jon who is the manager of the store. Finally, we stopped by Lush Oxford Street for a shop and ended our scented day at the scented cinema. So as you can imagine, I have so much to tell you! But where to begin! Lets start with the reason I planned this little get away. The Gorilla Perfume Scented Cinema!

The Jump Joint - Gin Fizz Review

I was so excited to be asked along to blog the Gin Fizz Event taking place on the 28th November. I haven't had a night out since having my little one, I love a good rhythm and blues band with a gorgeous double bass, and I do not have to be asked twice to find a reason to dress up. So this came at a perfect time, as I was well in need of letting down my hair and kicking off my shoes (metaphorically speaking of course).

29 High Street Perfume - Lush Review

It seems that when it comes to the smell of a Lush Store, people either love it or hate it. I love the anticipation of walking towards a Lush store, being pulled in by the magical 'Lush Scent' and exploring what products my nose will lead me to. I love the image the fragrance presents to me, like a loony toons aroma cloud turning into a hand and beckoning me to Grannies pie in the window, or Charlie entering the chocolate factory. The smell of a Lush store is a friendly smile welcoming you in and hinting of the wonders inside.

An Interview With Aimee from Radioactive Unicorn!

Before my massive breakdown with my anxiety, believe it or not, I used to model. I wouldn't say I've ever had great beliefs in my beauty, but I did get to the point of accepting myself for who I was and being at peace with that. While on my little modelling adventures, I had a chance to work with a beautiful Hair and Makeup Artist called Aimee. I instantly liked Aimee, not only was she friendly, funny and worked wonders with my eyebrows, but she also is the type of woman who works to make other women feel empowered. This is something I respect very much in people. The world would be a much better place if people worked more to support each other instead of tearing them down.

My Lush Poole Adventure - The Comforter? Spa Treatment!

'If you want to view paradise, Simply look around and view it,
Anything you want to, do it, You want to change the world,
There's nothing to it'

My blog really has been the medicine I needed. It has kept me positive through my pregnancy and encouraged me to look after myself even after having my baby. Though I am one who usually sports a sunny disposition, sometimes I still struggle and recently things had gotten me a little off track. Luckily my trip to Poole couldn't of come at a better time.

My Lush Poole Adventures!

I am going to make the biggest understatement by saying that I love Lush. I love the products, the stores, the staff and all the little details that link it all together. My Little Lush Land adventure was not only a Lushies dream come true, but if possible it made me fall in love with Lush even more.

Lush Milton Keynes Christmas Blogger Event!

I am one of those annoying people that love Christmas and all its sparkles. So when I got an invite to Lush Milton Keynes Christmas blogger event (showcasing their winter range) in September, I did not do the 'Christmas stuff already' rant that some people do, instead I skipped around the house thinking of all the beauties that would be revealed this year.

Lush Northamptons 10th Birthday Party!

One of the things I really value in a company is good customer care. I would count this as providing what I have paid for, offering advice when possible and being polite. It doesn't really take a lot to make me happy. Yet sometimes I find myself not shopping in stores just because I feel uncomfortable with people, (Yay the joy of an anxiety disorder). However when it comes to Lush, I have never been made to feel awkward and, as my son often comments, I feel like I'm a part of their very happy family.

Powder Puff Deodorant Powder - Lush Kitchen Review

As you can imagine as a writer, I love words, and as I've mentioned before one of the things I love about lush is their wonderful use of them. I love how they describe their products, I love their funny puns and I love their quirky product names. I am also delighted by the fact that I now own a Lush product that shares the same name as my blog!

Lush Makeup Makeover!

It is a well hidden secret that I'm a bit of a Lush addict and also a bit of a Makeup one too! Okay it's not a secret at all, you wouldn't even have to spend two minutes with me to work out just how obsessed I am. So I thought I would take a moment to bring two of my loves together.

An interview with Gretchen from Bohemian Finds!

Anyone who knows me, will know about my unhealthy obsession with dresses. Nothing makes me feel as good as getting made up and putting on a stunning dress that stands out. Sometimes however it can be a little difficult to find the perfect one. This can be made harder if your a plus size, interested in clothes that aren't in main stream stores or you live in a town with minimal shops.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette

My love for make-up may have turned into a bit of an addiction lately. This has not been helped by the fabulous promotions Make-up Revolutions have been offering. I took the opportunity, however, and one of the things I picked up was their new Ultra Contour palette. I've never ventured into the world of contouring, but I was rather interested to give it a go and to see if I could master the professional look others seemed to get from it.

I was so excited to be invited to my first Lush Blogger Event. After recently having my baby it was perfect timing to get out and be in one of my favourite places. I had also never been to Lush Milton Keynes, so it was lovely to get a chance to meet the staff and see what Oxford Street Exclusives they had received, that my local store had not.

Whoosh Shower Jelly - Lush Review

With two young children, our house is sometimes a bit crazy. We all run around doing our daily tasks, and though we love our lives, it can sometimes leave you a bit frazzled. Luckily the whole family are big lush fans, and these products have often helped with normal daily situations. When we don't get to relieve our aches in a long bath, we can still take the time to recharge ourselves with a refreshing Lush shower.

We've all been a little sad saying goodbye to Lush's discontinued list, but as we were promised, it was to make room for some new fabulous products. We all know that Lush like to surprise us. Gorilla Perfumes - 1st Birthday

One of my favourite aspect of Lush is their fragrances. When I found out they had one shop dedicated to their perfumes, (as well as actually making a perfume with Gorilla Perfume) it became the top of my wish list to go. Having recently delivered my second son, I've missed out on some great lush experiences, so when I heard Gorilla Perfumes Islington were having their one year birthday celebrations, I knew this was a perfect time to finally go and visit.

An interview with Nicole from The Hourglass

I've talked a little in my blog about how growing up I never had much confidence. I was bullied through out school and no matter how I looked there was always a reason someone didn't like me. As I grew up and found myself, I became happier and when I was offered a chance to model, I didn't understand why, but I gave it a try. Through modelling my confidence grew, I couldn't believe it when I got pictures back and I didn't look as bad as I thought I did. I worked so hard to accept myself for who I was, and to not change but improve on things I wasn't happy with.

While feeling rather worn out and a little in need of care I turned to the Floating Island Bath Melt for a little get-away. Like most Bath Melts it is not much to look at. It doesn't put on a marvellous display like Lush Bath Bombs. Instead the magic in the Floating Island Bath Melt all lies in the ingredients and what they have to offer.

'The salty, citrus fragrance is refreshing on the skin and mind, like diving into the cool blue ocean' - Lush

I don't know why I haven't reviewed the Ocean Salt Face And Body Scrub yet! It is one of my favourite Lush products and probably among the ones I use the most. This product has so much to offer, I find myself in need of it not only when my skin is feeling tired but when I am too.

Love Soap - Lush Review

I am lucky enough to be in Love, and even luckier to be loved in return. I do not take it lightly how fortunate I am in the fact that me and my love are able to build a life together. I often think back to the time when people in our situation (mixed race marriage) would of been hurt or ridiculed for simply loving one another. I can't help getting teary when I think of the pain caused and the anger felt for such a ridiculous reason. All love is beautiful, the world could not possibly be worse off for people sharing their love and being kind to each other.

How to Get The Pin Up Look!

(Marilyns dress from the film 'Misfits')
Growing up I never felt beautiful, and I'm pretty sure the more I become unhappy with myself the worse I looked. Beauty Icons are very important in a young girls life. They do not just teach us how to dress and how to do our make up but they also offer comfort. They are there when we are growing and reaching out to learn who we really are. So a beauty style Icon for me is not about being perfect, it is about being yourself, overcoming your trouble and striving for positivity.

Lush For Men!

So with Fathers Day fast approching and recently delivering my new little man (on June 4th), I thought it would be a perfect time to dedicate a post to the special men in our lives. We often forget that even the strongest of men need caring for too, and when it comes to treating them they deserve just as much pampering as the rest of us.

Maternity Hospital Bag - Lush Essentials Kit

I have less than three weeks until I go into hospital to have my son. I have spent pretty much most of my pregnancy in a blissful Lush bath or talking about Lush products. It can not be said that I have not done my best to ensure my birthing experience will be the most relaxing that I can make it.

Blue Skies And Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar - Lush Review

I love a variety of fragrances. Some scents I prefer for the particular feelings they invoke, and others for the memories. It may sound strange but scents are important to me. I love the smell after it rains; the smell of my child and the scent of my husband. They all remind me of different emotions such as love, safety and comfort. So when it comes to choosing a suitable fragrance for bath time, it needs to be more than just a "nice smell" it needs to wrap me in the atmosphere I desire.

My own business involves creating paper craft items for parties and helping people plan weddings and other special occasions, So parties are something I can't help throw myself into.

If bath times weren't magical enough, Lush have created something equally bewitching, the beautiful Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb. Like a fun jest made by the pixies, the bath bomb appears simple. In appearance it is white with flashes of colour, which gives only hints of it's hidden treasure inside.

My family calls me a mermaid, I could spend all day and all night in the bath. It doesn't matter what the weather is, I would still happily soak in a luxurious tub. Fun - Lush Review

What I really love about Lush is how the whole brand has a friendly personality. It's like meeting a new friend and realising you both have the same weird sense of humour. Another thing I really value in a friend is kindness. I really love the little things in life, I admire anyone and anything that's purpose is to bring a smile to someones face, even if it is a terrible joke/pun or a fun item made to make something some people may struggle with a little easier.

Finding Myself Through Red Lipstick And Vivian of Holloway

By Steve Smith
This post is another rather nostalgic one, and In a way I look at that as being a rather positive thing. After a traumatic birth with my first son I really lost myself. I slowly got back into things I enjoyed before but it was all forced and like I was pretending to be someone, which turned into being too many people. I suffered severe anxiety and after a miscarriage I lost myself completely. I didn't leave the house for nearly a year, I didn't see or talk to people outside my family and I didn't even dream of looking or feeling good about myself.

Golden Egg Bath Bomb - Lush Review

I have never enjoyed Easter much, though I occasionally enjoy chocolate, it's not really something I get that excited about. So I was 'egg-static' to find out that Lush did an Easter Range and I could have lots of treats that I could enjoy and that were good for me.

I loved the Lush Easter Range, all the bright colours and gorgeous spring scents. One of the first things that drew me towards the Easter range was the the bright, shiny Golden Egg. Now I know for some people anything glittery puts them on edge, they don't want to deal with the glitter tiny up thats ensues. But for me, it spurs a childlike excitement that has me skipping around the room.

Karma Perfume - Lush Review

I am rather enjoying my exploration into Lush Gorilla Perfumes. My collection is growing steadily and I am already gaining favourites. Karma Perfume has easily made its way into my heart. It is always the perfume anyone I speak to about Lush recommends, and it isn't hard to see why.

When you see the Karma Perfume you are instantly attracted to the beautiful display on the bottle. Decorated with an array of psychedelic patterns and colours and a bold font shouting its name. This image sets the scene for the adventure this fragrance will take you on.

BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask - Lush Review

Our faces are so important. They greet our loved ones, offer comfort to those who need it and share our emotions when we can't quite find the words to express how we feel. A happy face can do a world of good and give people a positive impression of who you are. If you haven't picked up from my blog already, I am an avid promoter of positivity. This does not mean I am constantly in a good mood, believe me I can struggle to find the sunshine on a cloudy day as much as the next person. But I also believe that if we are in a place where everything looks bleak that its hard to pull yourself out unless you change your way of thinking.

Red Greta Leopard Collar Dress - Dollydagger Review

I am at the 9 weeks countdown until I have my second son and again I am wondering will my style change after pregnancy? Do you go back to being and dressing as you did before or is everything changed?

After my first son, it took me a long time to feel myself, and even then I felt like I was lots of people at the same time. I started modelling again and I started to enjoy clothes again but my size had changed and I had to learn all over again what would work for me.

Immaculate Eggception Bath Bomb - Lush Review

The Immaculate Eggception Bath Bomb is a large bath bomb released as part of the Lush Easter Range. It can be cracked open and used in up to three separate baths or used to create one luxurious bathing experience.

This bath bomb comes in two colours. There is the Yellow 'no yoke', which is shaped as a large easter egg decorated with pretty green flowers. Then there is also the Pink 'great eggpectations', brilliantly displaying one side of yellow dots and the other with blue dots. When split open we find a hidden surprise inside, the pink egg hatches a little yellow chicken and the yellow egg a cute white bunny.

If I Got To Create A Lush Pregnancy Bundle!

This is where my love for Lush started. I had never tried any of their products before a friend gifted them to me. I realised this is exactly what I needed. It may seem trivial but it has made such a difference. Products that are beautiful and delight me, that make me take 'Me Time' and also have wonderful ingredients that look after my skin and heal my mind. So now I want to write this blog as a big recommendation for other Mummas, who may need extra help relaxing. This is a post of my own personal imaginings if I got to create a Lush pregnancy bundle.

Following on from my previous blog I mentioned that sometimes I like to make my bath a full Lush mix, I enjoyed The Fizzbanger and really revelled in the fruity smell. This gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my You've been Mangoed Bath Melt. The Fizzbanger Bath Bomb - Lush Review - featuring 'You've been mangoed' Bath Melt

I must admit, I am very easily distracted when I visit Lush. I run from one place to another and often have to walk around a few times to make sure I haven't missed something special! So finding The Fizzbanger Bath Bomb was like finding hidden treasure. Though it is a beautiful vibrant yellow I feel this bath bomb sometimes gets over looked for all the glittery and colourful items. We all know that feeling now and then! So I decided I needed to give it a try. Just a couple of little blue flickers told me this Bath Bomb had a hidden secret and I had to find out what that was.

Annabelle's Wigs Hair Piece Challenge

I was so excited when I heard that my hair piece was on its way for the Annabelle's Wigs Hair Piece Challenge. I couldn't wait to see what styles I could create using it. They had matched me with the 3/4 Wig Hairpiece 'Raven'. A long black, straight hair half wig with layers.

When it arrived I was amazed to see how close the colour suited my own hair and it felt so natural to touch. It is attached with two flexi combs at the front and back of the netted cap. It is easy to put in by simply parting the front section of your hair, and slipping the combs into the parting. Once the front and back combs are in place it feels very secure but you can also add extra bobbi-pins if you would like added security. After the hair piece is inserted the rest is up to you, have fun playing with it and wear it in whatever style you like.
