The Powderpuff Parlour

The Powderpuff Room began as a promise to take care of myself, to live for the things that make me smile and to remind myself that I am good enough. The first incarnation of The Powderpuff Room was the Blog I started in 2015 where I wanted to share my experience of products, clothes and events that made me happy whilst promoting self love and body positivity.

As my blog has grown and indeed given me lots of reasons to smile, I knew I wanted to evolve this in to something that would make others feel wonderful too. Inspired by the enchanting styles from the 1920s to 1960s, I want to offer a service that makes you feel as beautiful as you are. So from a simple trim to a full vintage up-do, I want to make sure you feel pampered and looked after. Lets add a little touch of that vintage magic with a visit to The Powderpuff Parlour.

Curvy Kate Body Positive Campaign - #MyBodyMyBFF

If I'm honest, I aimed to have this post out a lot sooner, but as it happens this campaign has come at a time when my own mind is a little all over the place. Am I really the person who should be telling you about body positivity when I can be so cruel to my own? Don't get me wrong, in general I feel good in myself, I accept myself for who I am and usually I know I deserve love and everything everyone else deserves, but I can't pretend there are not days when I look at myself, or see a nasty comment from someone and for a moment believe every bad thing I possibly could about myself. Why do we do it? Why does the fact I am fat mean I should let my confidence be ripped apart. I would never want anyone else to be treated that way. Is this the type of person you want telling you about body confidence? Or maybe is this the point of body positivity? It is not as simple as believing you are perfect all the time, its about the journey, about learning to be nicer to yourself when you don't feel great, or whilst hearing nasty things. We would never dream of saying these cruel things to our friends, so why do we think it's okay to pull ourselves down this way?

Lucia Gingham Dress - Aida Zak Review

I love Gingham, it reminds me of summer, of picnics and of fresh country farms. There is something so refreshing and cheerful about this print and I can't help but get excited when I see a dress made out of it. I have heard of Aida Zak through shopping with Collectif, but it was only while speaking to them myself that I realised just how much they do. Offering a clothing range inspired by classic icons such as Sofia Loren, I knew I would not find it hard to fall in love with them.

Lush Intergalactic Photoshoot with The Hourglass

So a few months ago my two worlds collided as I had a chance of mixing my love of Lush with my love of Modelling. I have worked with The Hourglass By Nicole Klein a few times and I can honestly say she is one of my favourite photographers. I love how passionate she is about what she does, how she knows how to show a lady off at her best and how she gets as excited as I do when we dream up some crazy ideas. Nicole and I have talked about our love of Lush on many of our meetings, and once we decided that we would love to do a shoot around a Lush theme, we knew we had to make it something a little outrageous.

London Edge - February 2017

Last Month I finally got to attend London Edge, an event I have been eager to visit, since before I had even started blogging. If you don't know, London Edge is an alternative fashion trade show, held twice a year and showcasing some of my favourite brands and what they have to offer for the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons. Brands such as Banned Apparel, Collectif, Hell Bunny, Voodoo Vixen, Victory Parade, Hearts and Roses and lots lots more, fill their rails with a massive amount of gorgeous new lines for retailers to order, and for little bloggers like myself to gather snippets of whats to come, to tell you all about.

Bee Jackson Photography Giveaway!

I was recently contacted by the wonderful Bee Jackson, who's work I had admired for ages. She asked if I would be interested in shooting with her and of course I accepted. Bees work is ethereal and elegant, it creates beautiful stories of romance and adventure and I wanted to be a part of it!

Valentines Nails - Revive Salon Northampton

We don't need a special day once a year to tell someone we love them, but it never hurts to make an excuse to step back from our busy lives to treat them, or to spoil ourselves. With Valentines only a week away, (which we'll be spending at London Edge), I took the opportunity to treat myself to a valentines look. I found the perfect dress, the perfect shoes, and now I needed some Valentines inspired nails.

The Spell Treatment - Lush Poole Review

As the 31st of January brings my blogs 2nd anniversary I am reminded of how much has changed in the time I have been writing it. I am able to leave the house, I talk to more people and I feel my confidence is growing daily. I started this blog to help manage my mental health, to keep me positive and to fight against my anxiety disorder. Another thing I did to help fight it, was to let myself experience The Spell Treatment at Lush Spa Poole, a treatment made for those who are looking to move forward.

Noodle Ball Double Star Bracelet - ChloBo Jewellery Review

As Valentines fast approaches a lot of us will be thinking of all things sparkly, either to give to our loves or to receive ourselves. We all love pretty things, and what makes something even more beautiful is when it is attached to a lovely memory or person. This beautiful bracelet wasn't sent to me from an admirer unfortunately, but it was sent to me by the fabulous ChloBo, now let me tell you about this company and how special their jewellery is.
