Hell Bunny - May Day Dress Review

Photography Hell Bunny-  by Dottie Photography

At the end of January my blog reached its 4 year anniversary, but with life being a bit crazy at the end of last year. I feel I've lost my way a little. So to kick off a new year I feel I need to start again, with something fresh and cheerful. After all this blog is all about things that make me smile, keeping me searching for silver linings and learning to turn things around when things are difficult. Because Summer is a state of mind, not just a season .....

So for my very first review this year I want to tell you about one of my favourite dresses, The Hell Bunny May Day Dress. This dress is perfectly named, in the Uk May Day celebrates Spring, the beginning of brighter days, shorter nights and new beginnings. It renews my energy and breaks me out of literally feeling the metaphorical 'Under the weather' of winter. Spring time lifts me out of the dark place of winter, that I physically and mentally struggle with and gives me a much needed new lease of life, and this bright, brilliant dress perfectly represents that.

The May Day Dress is a floral print 50's style dress made from cotton and lycra. Featuring purple, yellow and green flowers on a blue background. It has halterneck straps that can be adjusted and tied at the back and a sweetheart neckline, seamed over the bust to ensure perfect shaping. It has a back zip fastening and an elasticated back to ensure great fit for the wearer.

This dress is perfectly suited to all body shapes, with a clinched in waist line to highlight the classic hourglass shape and a full circle skirt, meaning more volume can be added with a petticoat. I also find the skirt length sitting just below my knee on my 5'8 frame it the most flattering length for my curvier figure. It is also accessorised with a matching fabric belt, attached with loop holes on the side seams, which could be swopped out for an elastic one if preferred.

Available at £45.99 standard and £50.99 plus size (though I believe they are on sale at this moment on the Hell Bunny Website) and in sizes 8 to 22, this gorgeous dress is a must have for any spring/summer loving lovelies. Not only is this piece the perfect 50's inspired dress, it is also great quality, comfortable and well made. One thing to be noted is that though I usually find Hell Bunny to be pretty true to size, that usually I am between a size 16-18 but with the elastic back on this dress, I found I fit better sizing down to the 16 of this style.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I highly recommend checking out Hell Bunny, I am so excited for their spring/summer range and know you will not be disappointed. Do let me know if you have this dress and how you have found it, and what ways do you enjoy styling it?
