Annabelle's Wigs Hair Piece Challenge

I was so excited when I heard that my hair piece was on its way for the Annabelle's Wigs Hair Piece Challenge. I couldn't wait to see what styles I could create using it. They had matched me with the 3/4 Wig Hairpiece 'Raven'. A long black, straight hair half wig with layers.

When it arrived I was amazed to see how close the colour suited my own hair and it felt so natural to touch. It is attached with two flexi combs at the front and back of the netted cap. It is easy to put in by simply parting the front section of your hair, and slipping the combs into the parting. Once the front and back combs are in place it feels very secure but you can also add extra bobbi-pins if you would like added security. After the hair piece is inserted the rest is up to you, have fun playing with it and wear it in whatever style you like.

Style one - Vintage Victory Rolls

This style is achieved by separating the hair into three different sections. First the front section which will be separated further into our two Victory Rolls. Then the back section which can be tied into a pony tail or put into a bun.  To create the victory rolls take one of the front sections and holding it up and out at around a 45 degree angle, take the end and begin to roll inwards. This angle should help to keep the roll tight. When you have wound it into your desired place secure with bobbi-pins. Repeat this on the second side to finish both Victory rolls. Finally slide your hair piece into the back section and arrange until you are happy with it.

Style Two - Plait with Mini Pompadour

This look is created by sectioning off the front of your hair and securing the hair piece into the back section. Taking the front section back comb and puff up the hair, covering the seem of the Wig as you pin the Pompadour in place. The more hair you gather and the more you back comb will determine the size. I have also left out two strands to frame the face. Finally brush the hair piece over one shoulder and plait the back. You can then attach a bow or flower to finish.

Style Three - Braided Crown with Twisted Bun

This style is arranged by first separating the front of your hair and tying the back. starting on one side of the front section begin to plait the hair across to the other side. This is done the same as a standard french plait but instead of taking each strand over, braid them underneath to make the plait pop out. once finished pin the end in place.

Next slide in the hair piece just behind the plait then brush and gather it at the nape of your neck. Twist the hair and wind it into a low bun. pin around until secure.

The crown can also be made bigger by teasing the hair and smoothing the top layer before starting the bun.

As with all of these styles lots of flowers, bows and other decorative hair accessories can be used to add to your look. Have fun with it and express yourself.

Looking After Your Hair Piece

It is very important that after all that we put our hair through that we take care of it, The same goes for our Hair Pieces. So after you have finished using it follow these simple instructions to make sure your Hair Piece lasts as long as possible.

  • After wearing your hair piece make sure to gentle comb out all tangles using a wide tooth comb.
  • You can also spray the ends with conditioning spray and leave on a stand to dry.
  • Immerse hair piece in lukewarm water and shampoo, Swirl and let soak for two minutes. Then rinse in cold water until all the shampoo is removed.Refile bowl with lukewarm water again and fabric conditioner, leave to soak for 10 minutes. Rinse out with cold water. Gently fluff out while damp and leave to dry on a stand.
  • Never brush or style hair while piece is still wet.
  • Do not use heated appliances on hair piece.
  • Makes sure it is stored well, either in the mesh and pack it arrived in or on a wig-stand.
  • Anything to prevent tangles will prolong the hair piece life.

I have really enjoyed creating these three hair styles for the challenge and getting to wear this lovely hair piece. It is great quality and easy to use. All the hairstyles I have done are quick and simple, which is great for when your on the go. However I am sure these pieces would allow you to do a lot more with them. I look forward to finding out.
